upscaling dvd player reviews

Upscaling DVD player … waste of money?

Hello, I just bought a 42 "1080p LCD TV. I have to Blu-ray is the way to follow, but as a palliative (until the price comes down a bit – the players and the media!) is a DVD player that upscales to 1080p worth it? I saw one for 33 pounds, so it will not break the bank. This outputs through HDMI, and according to reviews, the quality is much better than seeing a regular DVD via a standard SCART connection. My concern is (not knowing much about all this) that perhaps my TV already upscales? Or maybe the quality of the display of DVD's on the new player through HDMI is not going to be markedly better. Anyone tried this? Thanks, Jay.

You may be able to find a Blu-ray cheap used also upscales DVDs. Panasonic makes some decent Blu-ray. If you are not prepared to let the money however, I would say if you have a little fun money that can happen that the DVD upscaling is not a bad investment. How much improvement depends note how far you sit from the TV, but you should see a marked improvement with most sources. With a 42 "you should see an improvement while sitting within about Him 10 feet or more. You would do just fine with a 720p and can not really see the difference from 720 to 1080, until watching the screens over 50 "or be very close. The other thing on the Blu-ray is the HD Audio Lossless. If you have a sound system that can take advantage of the new fantasy blu-ray audio tracks that is in many ways as or more impressive than the image. You will not get the lossless audio from a DVD player upscaling, the image only clear.
