I want to decorate my bedroom like Savannah, GA. Any suggestions on magazines or web sites?
It is my favorite place to visit and I would love to be able to have a piece of it in my home.
ahhh I live in Ga, near the Atlanta area haven’t made it so Savannah yet but I want to.
ok lets see since u did not post a pic of your room its hard to tell u where to put what and I don’t know how big ur room is, but here are some things u can do.
u can use a big gotti or Victorian mirror in ur room, OR u can put up a mirror that looks like a window (easy to make if u can’t find one the right size, and u can buy shutters and put on each side and u can pain them any color u want. if u have a light fixture in your ceiling u can replace it with a chandelier, I saw a cute one at home depot for only $88. if u can get some art work of Savannah maybe black and white pics of a horse and carriage on the Savannah streets, if u are good at photoshop or know someone who is maybe u can do black and white but pic one thing in the picture to make colored, and print it out if I am making sense.
if there is a garden ridge near your house they have tons of stuff u can use, statues, columns. u can buy small columns (best if u have hard wood floors) and put glass on top of those and make night stands. maybe a statue on your dresser or shelf. try to find a pretty Victorian bedding and maybe u can put a truck/chest at the foot and put the decorative pillows in there when u take them off the bed at night. u can do neutral color walls or maybe do one of the wall (focal point wall) a bright red; just think Southern. Go to home depot and get a bunch of Ralph Lauren paint swatches and hold them up to your wall I think RL has the best selection of colors and u can match the color with a cheaper can of paint.
another neat thing u can do is find a pretty gate like garden ridge or an antique store, if in bad condition a can of black spray paint will fix it up. u can put this behind your bed and use as a head board. find someone handy to help u secure it to the wall so it doesn’t bang everything time u move.
the 1st pic below I want u to look at the decorative trim above the windows. u can find or if have a handy friend make something similar but square or something easy and paint them white and put them above your door and/or windows in your room it will add a touch of elegance and has a Victorian feel.
the 2nd pic, sorry its all I could find, but I am sure u have seen those trees, see u can find one that has 3 parts to it instead of two and see if u can find somewhere in your room to put it, 1 or 2 of them. if u can find some over this holiday season that have white lights already in them u can use them lite up in your room year round and it will be beautiful.
the last idea I have for u is in the 3rd picture and I do apologize its all I could find, I know its ugly in this picture LOL. see the bottom half of the wall from the chair rail down? u can do that in your room also but paint it all white.
